Shortly before Jesus’ death on the cross, the Pharisees and Sadducees were trying to trick him so they could arrest Him.
One of the scribes asked Jesus, What commandment is the foremost of all?
Jesus answered, ‘AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’
He goes on to say in verse 31, The second is this, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ The is no other commandment greater than these. NASB
The question to you is, “Do you keep these commandments?” Honestly I fail at keeping them sometimes. Sure it easy to keep them when it is convenient. When it doesn’t cost me anything to keep it. But sometimes I feel grumpy and don’t even want to think about these commandments.
What is the solution to solving this problem?
Get deep into God’s word on a regular bases. Read your Bible everyday.
Get deep into prayer on a regular bases. Pray without ceasing.
Get deep into obeying God’s commands on a regular bases. Be ever conscious of doing His will.
This will leave little time for satan to enter in and fill those spaces that only God needs to fill.
Father God, create in me a clean heart and make me like you in all of my ways.
Father please forgive me when I fail to love you with all my heart, mind, soul and strength.
Father please create in me a new heart to do Your will.
In Jesus’ most Holy name, Amen.
