What is your Bible Verse for 2014???

My Bible Verse for 2014 is:

Mark 12:30

English Standard Version (ESV)
30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
I like to substitute I shall, for you shall and with all my, for with your.
The idea for this came from my Brother in Christ J. Randal Matheny http://randalmatheny.com/2014/01/01/bible-verse-2014/
I will be posting more on this as the days of 2014 pass us by.
Also inspired by J. Randal is a daily Bible reading plan that I started today.
It sounds next to impossible but I actually read through the first reading and I was already longing for more. I am so excited for the challenge to stick with this reading plan. Let me know if you are joining in so we can encourage one another. http://forthrightpress.com/2013/12/31/daily-bible-reading-plan-2014/

What I Have Been Up to in the Month of January 2013

The first three weeks of January I was sick for two weeks and my husband was sick for a week.
Now it is the first week of February and my husband is sick again. Ugh!!!!
The most important thing I did was an online Bible Study. The bible study was Soul Detox and it is http://www.youversion.com
In the mean time I have been listing some Vintage things to sell.
I was having serious withdrawals from sewing so
I cleaned up my sewing room and
started my machine to humming for two days.
Then I remembered that I was going through all the
Vintage things I have in my house and
deciding that it is time to move them on out.
So, now you know what I have been up to in January 2013.

Give Gifts That Give Back

If you have read my blog before you know how my heart longs for Africa.
You know how my heart desires to help the people of Africa.
First of all by teaching them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20
“Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,”
Every time I travel to Zambia I realize more and more how hard the women lives are. They have to work hard to provide enough food for their families. They have their babies and get up and go back to work with the baby strapped on their back.
One Chief I know declared that women get at least a week off after they have their baby before they have to go back to work gathering food and water.
There are many young girls who do not attend school because they are expected to stay home to help their Mother. It is considered more important for the boys to go to school.
There is so much more I could write about but I will not because of time and space.
I found Sseko Designs and fell in love with what they are doing for women in Uganda.
Please take a few minutes to read about Sseko Designs and see what they are doing.
If you are looking for a meaningful Christmas or Birthday present you may click on one of the banners to go to Sseko Designs and see what beautiful and unique gifts they have.  This not only makes a wonderful gift for you or someone you care about but through your purchase you will be giving to young women in Uganda. You will be helping them get an education so they can better themselves and give back to other women. This is very important to me because I am an educator and I have experienced first hand what a difference education can make in peoples lives.
 Matther 6:23
“But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand it doing,
Galatians 2:10
They only asked us to remember the poor—the very thing I also was eager to do.
Blessings to You.

Just a little about Sseko Designs:
Sseko Designs is a sandal company based in Uganda. We make beautiful leather sandals with interchangeable fabric straps that can be styled in hundreds of ways.

Sseko began as a way to generate income for high potential, talented young women to continue on to university. Sseko has graduated three classes of women. Every woman who has graduated from Sseko is currently pursuing her college degree.
In addition to our university-bound team, Sseko also employs a full-time team of women from all walks of life. By creating an environment of dignity, honor, creativity and dedication, Sseko Designs provides the opportunity for women in East Africa to end the cycle of poverty and create a more equitable society.
We believe that every woman has a dream. When she is given the opportunity to pursue those dreams, we are collectively walking towards a brighter and more just and beautiful world.

Extreme Home Makeover God’s Edition

We spent the week-end at a family retreat.

The Theme was
Extreme Home Makeover-God’s Edition.
John 14:23(NASB)
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
When one starts a Home Makeover you often find that you get one thing fixed and another thing needs to be fixed. Some times one needs to tear everything down to the ground. One may have to change the ground too.
We have to have the right foundation.
1 Corinthians 3:11 (NASB)
11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
We have to choose the strong foundation.
Matthew 7:24-27  (NASB)
The Two Foundations
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
We have to build strong exterior walls based on God’s principals and not the world’s way of thinking.
Exterior Walls have to be torn down. We have to change the way our families look and react  to the world.
1 Corinthians 15:33 (NASB)
33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”
Ephesians 5:16 (NASB)
16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
Interior Walls have to be torn down by God.
He is the only one that knows which ones can be removed and the home still stand firmly.
Ephesians 2:14 (NASB)
14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,
Mark 3:25 (NASB)
25 If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
God is the only One who can heal the family relationships.
Ephesians 5:33
(NASB)
33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
Ephesians 6:1-4 (NASB)
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.  Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
The Extreme Home Makeover-God’s Edition is about changing the things  our families participates in.
We live in the world but we are not of this world.
Romans 12:2 (NASB)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
It was about making the changes in our families lives that are going to lead them to heaven.
Daniel 12:3 (NASB)
Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.
If you have ever tried to do a  Home Makeover, you know how hard it can be.
